Board Nominations

Call for Nominations to the ACU Board of Directors

The Nominating Committee of the Assiniboine Credit Union/Caisse Assiniboine Board of Directors is seeking qualified candidates to run for four, 3-year Director positions open for election in 2026. As a member of Assiniboine Credit Union/Caisse Assiniboine (ACU), you have the right to nominate an eligible member, including yourself, to run as a candidate in the 2026 Director Elections.

If you would like to submit a nomination, you must do so no later than 3:00 pm on Thursday, October 23, 2025. All nominations must be submitted in accordance with the procedures outlined in the Candidate Guide. The Candidate Guide should be reviewed before an application is submitted, as it outlines eligibility criteria, Director duties and responsibilities, and other important information.

Director Positions Available for Election in 2026

ACU is governed by a 12-member Board of Directors. There will be four (4) available Director positions on the Board for election in 2026 as a result of Directors whose terms are expiring.

Read full details about 2026 Director positions

Following the January 1, 2025 merger of Assiniboine, Caisse and Westoba, the Board must include at least two (2) Francophone Directors1 and at least two (2) Rural Directors2. Of the Directors who are not up for election in 2026, three (3) are Francophone Directors and two (2) are Rural Directors. As such, there are no Francophone Vacancies or Rural Vacancies (within the meaning of ACU’s by-laws) for the 2026 Director Elections. Francophone individuals and Rural individuals are, of course, still eligible to run as candidates in the 2026 Director Elections.

Members will elect the Directors for the four (4) available Director positions, based on the four (4) candidates on the ballot that achieve the highest number of votes. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.

Ideal Competencies, Skills and Experience of Directors

ACU’s Board is committed to strong, responsible and ethical governance. The ACU Board understands the importance of ensuring its Board as a whole possesses the knowledge, skills, diversity of backgrounds and lived experiences to effectively steward and oversee the strategic direction of the organization. The ACU Board recognizes the benefits of having a diverse board composition to attract high-calibre Directors, maintain a high-functioning board, promote the inclusion of different perspectives and ideas, provide good governance, and build a competitive advantage.

An effective ACU Board consists of Directors with a well-rounded, collective knowledge base and an understanding of the Board’s oversight and governance responsibilities. ACU strives for a Board made up of individual Directors who collectively provide the ideal Director competencies, skills and experiences identified by the Board, which are described in the Candidate Guide.

A gap analysis of the current board, less those Directors up for re-election in 2026, has been conducted. Candidates with experience related to climate change management and sustainability, or information technology would be a particular asset to the Board at this time. We are seeking diversity in gender identity and expression and encourage females and non-binary individuals to apply. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
